The Youth and their Munchies
With the infamous 4/20 having just passed, London saw thousands of people flock to Hyde Park on weed’s Christmas day. What’s more, supermarkets were flooded with the same people buying food, snacks, and drinks to satisfy their cottonmouth and munchie’s needs. So what iconic foods did London’s young smokers choose for their special day on April 20th?

SOPHIA: TESCO’S CHOCOLATE CORNFLAKE CLUSTERS
“Tesco’s chocolate cornflake clusters are my favourite sweet treat that I’ve had because it’s like when you eat cereal in a bowl with milk, that shit gets way too soggy, like really soggy, right? But then if you have them in these little clusters, by themselves, they’re amazing, right? Perfectly sweet, crunchy, a little salty even, I would say. But then when you take milk, and you soak the clusters in milk like an Oreo, it tastes like the most perfect temperature cereal. The milk doesn’t get warm or anything, it’s still cold. It’s so good, and everyone agrees. Cereal has to be crunchier than watery, that’s why it’s perfect in the chocolate cluster form. People are not able to enjoy their cereal because it gets soggy and they have three minutes tops to eat it. Whereas with the clusters, I have a long amount of time to sit there and really enjoy the cereal because it wasn’t getting bad and soggy.”
LEO: DOMINO’S PESTO PIZZA
“The pesto pizza was some sort of limited edition dish from Domino’s. So apparently they were never going to make them ever again after this. I must say that the pizza is really good, and I was pleasantly surprised by it. The crust was really soft, so it was my favourite part of the dish. I personally liked the dryness of the topping because then I felt like I was getting more of the crust. Like, the topping wasn’t wet and it didn’t make the crust soggy. Soggy.”

CHLOE: HOMEMADE BROWNIES FROM A BOX
“Brownies are just super chocolatey. I really am someone that adores chocolate. Like, all I have is chocolate. I’ll have chocolate in all its forms. I usually make boxed brownies cause it’s easier and quicker. To be honest, they still taste amazing so why would I spend more time making them completely from scratch? The pack just comes with this cocoa looking powder and then all I had to add was butter and eggs. That’s how easy it was. These ones specifically were amazing cause you’ve got the triple chocolate: you got the white, the dark, and the milk. The mix of the three gives the brownie a really nice mix of colour, and the chocolate chunks make it so gooey and soft. It’s the perfect consistency.”
MICHAEL: HARIBO STARMIX
“The reason that the Haribo Starmix is my favourite is that you can have so many flavours at once, and you have so many options, so you can tailor your snacking arrangements to you. In the Starmix you have a bunch of my favourite candies: the cherries, pacifiers, crocodiles, and eggs; like all of them are amazing. With the Starmix you also have the option of eating the O.G. classics or the sour ones. I also like the fact that the candies are small because it’s easier to just pick at. I can eat them until I’m perfectly full, it’s not like eating this big thing. It’s just a great snack.”

OLYA: ALL BUTTER SHORTBREAD FINGERS
“I think most people would think that shortbreads, in general, are too dry as a munchie snack, especially because cottonmouth is a real thing. But, these have always been my favourite. Their texture is ridiculous like the sandy feeling melts perfectly in your mouth. They’re also the perfect consistency of sweet and salty. I never really know if I have a sweet or salty tooth, so this snack floats my boat in the best way possible. I don’t care how much hate shortbreads get, because I know that a lot of people associate them with like grandmas, but I still love them. They also remind me of my childhood cause we would always have them around the house and at family gatherings.”
